We started talking about dogs' one day and were hard pressed to find one of our outdoorsy friends that did not own a pooch. That is how "Gorge Dog" emerged. With our love for animals and longtime relationship with retail, we set out to offer great K-9 products with great service all while having a great time.

When the opportunity of a storefront presented itself in downtown Hood River, we jumped at the chance to open a canine castle. Gorge Dog opened its doors on November 17^th, 2000 in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge, and we are having a great time!!

So, whether it's with belly rubs, treats or toys, we believe that dogs have a short life span and should be spoiled everyday!! Thanks for taking the time to visit our site. Please let us know if we can help you in any way.

The Gorge Dogs

 We adopted Tonka (alias: The Woo, peaches and cream, peanut butter, pumpkin pie, Rubes, Sweetpea, dammit dog, etc……………) that October. Tonka was a mix of black lab, probably Pyrenees or Newfie. 

He weighed in at around 115 and never believed himself to be a dog unless of course he found something icky to roll in. 

He slept on the bed, sat on the couch and always helped to open presents at Christmas or birthdays.  We lost him to cancer in December of 2005. 

You never really replace a companion animal.  Hopefully you can open your heart to accept a new friend. 

Our new Gorge Dog arrived in our lives on March 31 of 2006.  His name is Endo.  We have been asked many times about the name and our standard answer is “Ass over tea kettle” but it was too long.  He is a great shop dog but loves the outdoors more than anything.  Although he weighs a mere 65 pounds, he still seems to take up most of the bed!

Endo loves meeting other Gorge Dogs, so stop in and say “Woof” sometime!
